Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram Medical College extended the suspension of Dr. EA Ruwise, who was arrested in connection with the suicide of Dr. Shahana, a final year PG student at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. It is reported that the Principal of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College has ordered the extension of Ruwise’s suspension for three months.

Both Dr. Shahana and Dr. Ruwise were pursuing postgraduate courses in the surgery department at Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram.

Dr. Ruwise had initially promised to marry Dr. Shahana, but later demanded more dowry, which the deceased Dr. Shahana’s family was unable to fulfill. Furthermore, Ruwise refused to marry her. This rejection led her into depression, and she committed suicide on December 4, 2023. Later, on December 7, based on the complaint filed by Dr. Shahana’s parents, Ruwise was arrested.
