Kollam: As the Lok Sabha elections are nearing, most of the parties have started campaigning for their candidates. Leaders and members of the parties are projecting the developments and plans that have come into being, during their term in power. Many aspiring candidates are extending promises to people who are not very happy with the present governance.

Latest news is about CPI(M) MLA Mukesh who is an actor turned politician from Kollam. Mukesh through a Facebook video said that, it has always been Kollam for him, even in his breath. He said that he has been holding tight for seven and a half years with a corruption-free service to public.

Mukesh explains, “When I became an MLA from being an actor, many people had doubts about how I was going to handle this constituency. But the answer to that is the development of Rs 1748 crores in Kollam constituency alone, that I have been able to achieve with my sincere efforts in the past seven and a half years. I was able to do my best service in Kollam parliamentary constituency. Elections are considered as an opportunity to bring more facilities and developments for the people. ”

But if we see the reaction of people from Kollam, it is hard to believe what Mukesh says about his dedicated work in Kollam…

In June 2016, a man missing complaint was filed with the Kollam West Police alleging the MLA’s prolonged absence from the constituency. The complaint read, “Kollam MLA M Mukesh is missing. Please locate him immediately.”

In July 2021, CPI(M) MLA Mukesh found a place in the headlines of every newspaper and channels for shouting at a Class 10 student from Palakkad district. Mukesh got angry with the student for calling him at night and the furious MLA hurled abusive words at the student who had called him for help.

In November 2023, a 6-year-old girl was abducted from Kollam and later found. Mukesh had posted a picture of him carrying the girl, on social media. But he was trolled for the post where the comment stated – “the missing child is found and the missing MLA too”

Mukesh has through his video on Facebook requested the people of Kollam to elect him in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, to be the voice of Kollam in Parliament. He also stated in the video that he is contesting from the Kollam parliamentary constituency as a Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate and asked the people to make him win with a large majority.

Will the people of Kollam give another chance to Mukesh, we need to wait and watch!
