Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala state government’s decision to eliminate the role of Chancellors in universities has faced a setback. President Droupadi Murmu has not approved three bills submitted by the Kerala government, including a bill to remove the Governor from the post of Chancellor of the state universities.
Apart from this, the bill to reduce the Governor’s powers in the University VC Search Committee and the Technical University Amendment Bill were also withheld by the President.
Raj Bhavan informed the news about the withholding of the bills through a press release. The President gave assent only to the Lok Ayukta Bill. Raj Bhavan also added that seven bills from Kerala have been sent to the President for approval.
