Wayanad: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has taken decisive action following the tragic death of Siddharth, a second-year student at Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) in Pookode. University Vice Chancellor Dr. M R Saseendranath has been suspended as a result. The Governor strongly condemned the collusion between SFI-PFI on the campus, labeling it a serious lapse on the part of the college. Additionally, he has written to the court, urging the judge to order a judicial inquiry.

The Governor stated that Siddharth’s death could not be simply attributed to ragging, but rather characterized it as murder. He highlighted that according to the post-mortem report, Siddharth had not consumed any food for three consecutive days, leading to the conclusion that he was starved and beaten to death. The Governor expressed disbelief at the notion that the college authorities were unaware of this situation, suggesting doubts about their involvement.

He pointed out that SFI workers in various colleges were converting hostel rooms into their headquarters, causing even the college authorities to hesitate to intervene. In response to the tragic incident at Pookode, the Governor informed that action was being taken against the college VC. Furthermore he mentioned that a letter had been sent to the court, urging it to initiate a judicial inquiry into the matter.

After Siddharth’s death, the Governor visited the student’s home yesterday to express his condolences and extended full support to Siddharth’s father. The Governor reassured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for Siddharth’s untimely death. Consequently, the Governor decided to suspend the VC of the University.
