BJP announces first list of candidates for 12 seats in Kerala

New Delhi:The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its first list of candidates for 12 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala on Saturday. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar will seek the mandate from Thiruvananthapuram, and Union Minister V Muraleedharan will seek the mandate from Attingal. As expected, actor and politician Suresh Gopi will contest from Thrissur, while Sobha Surendran will contest from the Alappuzha constituency.

The list of candidates for the 12 constituencies in Kerala is as follows:

  1.          Thiruvananthapuram: Rajeev Chandrasekhar
  2.          Attingal: V Muraleedharan
  3.          Thrissur: Suresh Gopi
  4.          Alappuzha: Shobha Surendran
  5.          Kasaragod: M L Ashwini
  6.          Kannur: C Raghunath
  7.          Vadakara: Praful Krishna
  8.          Kozhikode: M T Ramesh
  9.          Malappuram: Dr Abdul Salam
  10.          Ponnani: Nivedita Subramanyan
  11.          Palakkad: C Krishnakumar
  12.          Pathanamthitta: Anil Antony

BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde released the first-phase list at a press conference held at the party headquarters in New Delhi. Candidates for 195 constituencies have been announced. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, and Home Minister Amit Shah are also included in the first-phase list.

BJP is contesting in 17 out of 20 seats in Kerala. NDA constituent BDJS will also contest 3 seats. Candidates for the remaining 5 seats will be announced in the coming days.
