Wayanad: Mural paintings and quotes brushed on the hostel walls of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) indicate that the hostel was under the control of SFI activists.
The hostel, where Sidharth, a second-year Veterinary student, was found dead on February 18 after brutal assaults by SFI members, displays murals of ‘Che Guevara’ and quotes on its walls, clearly indicating the control of SFI in the hostel.
The walls of the hostel are fully painted with not only pictures of ‘Che Guevara’ but also pictures of liquor bottles, and some SFI quotes were seen on the wall. Several banner posters and flexes of SFI are also found. there also found some gangs/groups names on the walls. It is said that Sidharth was assaulted in the open courtyard of the three-story building hostel building.
It is also said that SFI is the only active political union on the KVASU campus. SFI is the sole entity filing nominations in the Union elections, and subsequently, they are announced as winners. This is how SFI has been controlling everything on the campus for several years.
On visiting the hostel, it will be clearly understood the extent of drug usage among the hostel students.
When entering the second floor of the hostel, one can see huge pictures of a liquor bottle and ‘Che Guevara’ on the walls. There are also drawings of ‘Lenin; and ‘Karl Marx’ on the walls of Sidharth’s room. These all indicate the SFI’s domination in the hostel.
