Kannur: As the issue of continuous wildlife attacks becomes a matter of concern for Kerala, the LDF convenor, EP Jayarajan ridiculed people’s protests against the menace. Mocking the people’s protest, he said it is not the ministers or leaders who are releasing wild animals into human residential areas. He also criticized the Bishop of Thamarassery Diocese, Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil, who cited the state government’s inefficiency as the reason for the menace. Jayarajan also said that people should refrain from provoking wild animals.
Following the tragic incident where a woman was killed by a wild elephant in Kothamangalam, a huge protest erupted. Meanwhile, the LDF convenor’s reply, mocking the people’s protests, has put the government itself in a tight spot. Despite the escalating wildlife menace, there has been no decisive intervention from the government to combat it.
The Bishop of Thamarassery Diocese also criticized the government’s negligence. He asserted that if the government could not protect the lives of the people, it should resign.
