Thiruvananthapuram: Vigilance is gearing up to inspect vehicles carrying excessive weight. As part of this, Vigilance has reintroduced a project named Operation Overload, which identifies overloaded vehicles through lightning checks.
The objective of Vigilance is to enhance statewide inspections. A fine of Rs 7 lakh was imposed on 17 vehicles found with irregularities. Overloading of modified vehicles will also be included in the inspection.
The vigilance team also conducted inspections in Kalpetta, Sultan Bathery, and Mananthavady. During these inspections, the team discovered quarry products being delivered without adequate payment of goods and services tax and lacking geology passes.
