Thrissur: Padmaja Venugopal, who recently joined the BJP, lashed out at Congress leaders while talking to the media. She revealed that she couldn’t even put ‘Tilak’ on her forehead while she was in Congress for fear of being accused as a communalist.

Padmaja also condemned the Youth Congress leaders for criticizing her. She said, “The Youth Congress leaders have become popular only now. They have developed into leaders only through channel discussions and debates. I only have contempt for those who criticize me.”

Padmaja was referring to Youth Congress State President Rahul Mamkoottathil’s statement on Facebook where he criticized Padmaja’s decision to leave the Congress. Padmaja said that Rahul Mamkoottathil is saying these only for securing a seat in the elections.

Padmaja also revealed that she was asked to pay Rs 22.5 lakh to travel in the vehicle along with Priyanka Gandhi. She said that it was former DCC President Vincent MP who took the money from her. Padmaja said that though she paid the money, she was not taken in the same vehicle with Priyanka. She added that till now she was dedicated to only one party but had to leave the party because she could not tolerate the party’s indifference towards her.
