Thiruvananthapuram: Left-wing jihadi groups and organisations in Kerala attempted to incite riots following the announcement of the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the country. A case has been filed against workers from the Welfare Party of India and the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) who marched to Raj Bhavan, chanting slogans promoting religious hatred. More than 100 individuals have been named in the case. Protestors have been charged with obstructing traffic by blocking roads. Two cases have been registered at the Thiruvananthapuram Museum Police Station.

The Citizenship Amendment Act aims to provide citizenship rights to minority communities, including Sikhs, Parsis, Jains, Buddhists, and Christians who migrated to Bharat from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan before December 31, 2014.
