Thiruvananthapuram: ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) has filed a complaint with the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of Kerala University, alleging violence and financial corruption committed by SFI (Students’ Federation of India) workers during the Kerala University Youth Festival. The complaint was lodged by ABVP Kerala State Secretary, EU Eswaraprasad, and State Joint Secretary S Akshay. ABVP activists accuse SFI workers of transforming university arts festivals into platforms for violence.
According to ABVP activists, SFI workers have transformed the festival venues into platforms for violence and financial corruption. They said that students associated with other organisations were targeted and prevented from participating in competitions. Also, students have to wait for ten to twelve hours with make-up to take part in events.
The complaint further alleges that judges, college union officials, and SFI leaders have been involved in bribery, with payments made to secure first, second, and third place in competitive events. ABVP demands an independent inquiry into these allegations of corruption and money laundering associated with the University Youth Festival. They also urged the university to take immediate action by forming a special committee to investigate the matter thoroughly.
