New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the much-awaited dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections at a press conference held in New Delhi.
The first phase of the Lok Sabha elections will commence on April 19, with polling scheduled in seven phases. According to the election commission, the phases are as follows: the first phase on April 19, the second phase on April 26, the third phase on May 7, the fourth phase on May 13, the fifth phase on May 20, the sixth phase on May 25, and the seventh and final phase on June 1. The commission also revealed that the counting of votes will take place on June 4. Kerala is set for voting in the second phase, scheduled for April 26.
Meanwhile, by-elections in 26 assembly constituencies will be conducted in three phases. Assembly elections are slated for Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on May 13, and for Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh on April 19. Vote counting will occur on June 4.
