Thrissur: Actor Tovino Thomas has made a strong statement regarding the unauthorised use of his photos in political campaigns ahead of the coming Lok Sabha election. The actor took to social media to address an incident.

The incident occurred yesterday, where the Thrissur LDF candidate, V S Sunil Kumar, shared a picture of himself with Tovino on social media platforms. Sunil Kumar had expressed his delight at meeting Tovino on a movie set and highlighted their friendship. The photo that he posted on social media was removed immediately. However, Tovino Thomas clarified that such usage of his image for political purposes is illegal and unauthorised.

Tovino noted on social media that he is the ambassador for Kerala for the Election Commission of India’s Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program. He said that it is against the law if someone uses his photo or a photo with him for any kind of election campaigning. He then extended his wishes to everyone for a fair election experience. Tovino had also extended good luck to all the Lok Sabha candidates.
