New Delhi: Two of Indian Navy ships have been put into service to assist Japan that is being reeling under the devastation caused by Typhoon Hagibis which made landfall south of Tokyo yesterday.
INS Sahyadri and INS Kiltan will provide assistance to Japan said a Navy tweet.
The tweet read, ” As Japan battles the devastation and damage from #Typhoon #Hagibis. #IndianNavy ships #INSSahyadri & #INSKiltan mission deployed in the area are ready to render assistance as requested. @PMOIndia @IndianEmbTokyo @SpokespersonMoD.”
Hagibis has brought large scale destruction after it struck Japan yesterday. 26 people lost their lives and hundreds injured in the calamity. The typhoon brought heavy rainfall and floods in its wake.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the deaths of Japanese citizens in the typhoon.
He also said, “India stands in solidarity with Japan at this difficulty hour. Personnel of the Indian Navy, in Japan on a scheduled visit, will be happy to assist immediately.”
