Washington: The United States Supreme Court will hear the cases pertaining to the release of Donald Trump’s tax returns and financial records next year.
Donald Trump has been seeking to block access to his tax returns and other financial records in lawsuits involving New York prosecutors and the US House of Representatives. Trump has not made his tax returns public, claiming they are under audit by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Lower courts have ruled that Trump must turn over the records but lawyers for the president appealed to the nation’s highest court, arguing that as president, he has blanket immunity.
The Supreme Court consists of conservative judges in the majority and it said that arguments will be heard during the March session and before it ends on June 30, a ruling will be issued.
