Geneva: In a message that is worrisome, the World Health Organization (WHO) Chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the virus infection is accelerating. However, he gave the hope that it is still possible to change the trajectory of the spread.

In a virtual press meet to journalists, the WHO Chief said, “”The pandemic is accelerating.”

He added, “It took 67 days from the first reported case to reach the first 100,000 cases, 11 days for the second 100,000 cases and just four days for the third 100,000 cases.”

However, he gave a silver lining of hope by saying that we are not helpless bystanders and that we can change the trajectory of the pandemic.

COVID-19 has spread far and out leaving isolated and devastated communities across countries in Europe, Asia and America. The death toll across the world has crossed 15,000 and is still increasing. Every country is on a race against time to contain the infection before it can tip the situation out of control.

With India having around 471 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the government has called for lockdown to avoid further spread of the infection.
