London: The worldwide situation of the spread of COVID-19 is alarming. With British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, too contracting the infection, the virus seems to be invincible. Many are asking, how a person like Johnson, with so much security and medical awareness, could contract the illness?
However, the answer to this question comes from the Prime Minister himself and it seems that the leader of Britain was too careless about maintaining social distancing and following medical advises.
In a press conference he gave on 3 March he had said, “I can tell you I am shaking hands continuously. I was at a hospital last night, where there were few coronavirus patients and I shook hands with almost everybody.”
Remember, that he has been a carrier of the virus since he contracted the virus a couple of weeks back. Think about how many leaders of that country might have come in contact with Johnson. With UK being badly hit by COVID-19, an infection spread among its leaders could be a devastating blow to the efforts to fight against the spread of the virus.
When his positive results came in, the British Prime Minister tweeted, “Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight the virus. Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives.”
The British Prime Minister’s carelessness will cost the country huge. This is a lesson for each one of us that we cannot be careless or let our guard down against this virus. Washing hands and maintaining social distance is the only way to prevent it from spreading in our communities.
