Kabool: An earthquake that marked 6.1 magnitudes in Richter scale struck at the Paktika province in Afghanistan early this morning. As per reports, at least 250 people have died and the death toll is expected to rise in the coming hours. So far, around 500 people are reported to be injured in the earthquake that struck in 4 villages in Paktika region.
The earthquake struck today at 4 am. Media reports say the affected areas are subjected to heavy damage and financial loss and the intensity increased as the earthquake was at a time when people were asleep.
Some regions in Pakistan including Islamabad, Lahore and Kweta also faced earthquakes.
The earthquake news was confirmed by the Government spokesperson, Bilal Karimi. He pleaded for the cooperation of International Agencies to curb issues related to the earthquake.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGC) said the earthquake took place about 44 kilometres away from the city of Khost, near the Pakistan border.
