Washington: The landmark Gun Control Bill has been signed by the US president Joe Biden. This made the bill into law in America. The action was performed in the background of the series of killings that have taken place in the country.
The bill aims to put an end to the continuing mass shootings in the US.
“I just signed into law the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. While this bill doesn’t do everything I want it to, it does include actions that I’ve long called for that will save lives. Today, we acted for the families that have lost their souls to an epidemic of gun violence.” Joe Biden tweeted after signing the bill.
The US Senate had passed the bill on last Thursday by attaining 234 supporting votes against 193 opposing it.
From now on, strict laws will be applicable to people under 21 years, who purchase guns, and their background will be checked thoroughly.
Strong protests against the gun rules in the USA have erupted in the wake of the recent mass shootings in Texas. Including children, 19 people were killed in the gunshot that happened in the school premises. This forced the US Government to bring strict control on gun laws.
