Colombo: Sri Lanka grants a 5-year visa to Indian business giants in order to promote investment. The Minister of Investment and Development, Dhammika Perera handed over the visa. In a Twitter post, Perera clarified that this initiative can be considered as a first step to simplify trade and encourage investments.
The Indian High Commissioner in Columbo, Gopal Bangle, had a meeting with Sri Lankan Minister of Industries, Nalin Fernando. The Indian Embassy has tweeted that their discussion was about the different realms of trades and also increasing the strength of trade between the both nations.
India provided a huge amount of money and services in aid to Sri Lanka, during the period of their crisis that includes 40,000 metric tonnes of cooking gas, diesel and petrol. Rice, milk powder and medicines worth Rs 2 billion were also brought to Sri Lanka through cargo.
S Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs of India, had visited Sri Lanka last March. During the visit of the Suwa Seriya Foundation, he advised the authorities to take lists of necessary medicines.
