Maldives: The financial crisis has been worsening in Sri Lanka. It is reported that the Maldives Velana Airport has beefed up the security as they got information about the shift of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to Singapore. The security officers have expelled everyone including the media from the VIP terminal.
On the other day, while escaping to Dubai, Gotabaya, got detained by the immigration officers at Bandaranaike Airport. He was trying to stamp the passport of himself and his family members by using the VIP queue. But the officers informed that they blocked his attempts to board four flights to the UAE.
Last day, the nation declared emergency in background of the existing financial crisis and escalating protests from the people. He died due to the respiratory failure that happened when the security forces used tear gas on the public.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wikremesinghe has not yet announced the resignation date even though he announced his willingness to resign. The protestors said that they will not leave the president’s palace unless the PM and President resign from their position.
