Paris : In the final match of the FIFA World Cup 2022, when the strong French team defeated by the former world cup champions, Argentina, a terrible conflict broke out in Paris. Disappointed fans were in the streets to express their grief after France’s defeat to retain the world title, culminating in clashes with the police.
Due to the expectation of a massive protest, the French police guarded the streets with a huge force. Authorities have deployed around 1,000 security personnel in all major French cities, including Paris. Even before the beginning of the competition, police patrolling began in various cities. But a riot-like situation erupted in Paris after the finals on Sunday evening.
French police had to use tear gas and water cannons to control the frustrated fans. Protesters also hurled firecrackers at the legislators’ residence. The people turned violent and clashed with the police. Finally, the security personnel arrested them and removed them.
The World Cup final match ended in a draw and the winners were finally decided by penalties. Argentina becomes the world champions after defeating France by 4-2 in the shootout.
