New Delhi: Interpol has recently taken action by issuing red corner notices against two notorious gangsters, Vikramjit Singh and Kapil Sangwan, based in the UAE and UK, respectively. Vikramjit Singh, also known as Vikram Brar, is believed to be evading authorities in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Singh is a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and oversees the gang’s operations abroad.
The second fugitive, Kapil Sangwan, runs his own criminal organisation in the Delhi National Capital Region and is closely associated with the Bishnoi gang. Sangwan, who goes by the alias Nandu, has been reportedly involved in numerous cases of extortion, with his base of operations located in the United Kingdom.
Prompted by the Delhi Police in June 2021, the CBI Interpol branch was requested to issue a Red Corner Notice (RCN) against Kapil Sangwan. The Delhi Police allege that Sangwan has been making extortion calls from his location in the UK. As a result, the majority of cases involving the Bishnoi gang have been transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for further investigation.
The NIA’s ongoing inquiry has revealed a direct connection between the Bishnoi gang and supporters of the Khalistan movement, which advocates for an independent Sikh state.
