ISRO gains social media prominence with historic achievements

New York: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has been making waves with its recent historic achievements, including the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 and the launch of Aditya L-01. These milestones have not only captivated the scientific community but have also reverberated across social media platforms.

In a testament to the widespread interest in ISRO’s endeavours, the organisation’s official social media handle has surged in popularity, emerging as the third most-followed handle on a prominent social media platform, X. Remarkably, over 11 lakh (1.1 million) people have chosen to follow ISRO’s official handle in just one month.

Leading the pack of individuals and organisations that gained followers last month is none other than Elon Musk, the CEO of a well-known tech company. Musk experienced a substantial increase in his followers, amassing an impressive 33,66,775 new followers during the period. In second place is Tokyo Metro Info, with 15,39,396 new followers. ISRO stands proudly in the third position, having gained an astounding 11,72,857  new followers.

Notably, ISRO’s social media presence has outpaced that of other renowned entities such as Trump, with 7,35,569 new followers, and NASA, which garnered 6,66,375 new followers. ISRO’s rapid rise in social media popularity underscores the global fascination with space exploration and India’s contributions to the field.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also making waves in the social media realm, securing the 10th position with an impressive gain of 6,27,350 followers in the past month. Not to be outdone, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli occupies the 11th spot with a substantial increase of 4,89,918 followers. Meanwhile, Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, finds himself in the 30th position, having added 2,67,419 new followers to his social media presence.
