Cairo: In a significant development, more than 3,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid have entered Gaza as the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza was reopened for the first time since the Hamas attack on Israel, according to a report by the Times of Israel. Over 200 trucks, which had been stationed near the crossing for several days, began transporting the aid into Gaza. Egyptian state television also broadcast footage of trucks entering the gate.
The United Nations is currently focusing its efforts on delivering humanitarian aid across the Egyptian border into Gaza. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived at the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing with Gaza in the northern Sinai, emphasizing the critical importance of the aid convoy loaded with food and medicine and stating that it can be a matter of life and death for the people in Gaza.
Furthermore, Egypt is hosting a summit with numerous regional leaders and senior Western officials to address the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian terror groups in Gaza. The meeting’s agenda includes discussions on ways to de-escalate the conflict and seek a ceasefire, amid growing concerns about a regional conflict. This information was reported by the Times of Israel, citing Egypt’s state-run media.
