Washington: It seems the United States administration is not at all happy with their state guest, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Iran Khan. The Pakistani leader was snubbed by the US leadership by sending low key officials to receive him at the airport. No official vehicles were accorded to him for transportation and he had to use the people mover to leave the airport.
Pakistan, which is on the verge of financial bankruptcy, is also accused by the United States of gross human rights violations against its minorities and also for the brutal crackdown of resistance in the Baloach Province.
Imran Khan arrived for his maiden visit to the United States after taking office. He is scheduled to meet with the President Donald Trump on his three day visit. Though, his maiden visit is being celebrated in Pakistan, it seems that the United States administration is cold towards the Pakistani leader.
To cut down on expenses, the Prime Minister travelled on a commercial flight, Qatar Airways to reach the United States. He did not even use the Pakistan International Airways.
He had a cold welcome at the airport with Pakistani Foreign Minister, Fawad Qureshi, and Pakistani Ambassador to US, Asad M Khan, receiving him at Dulles International Airport.
The Pakistani Prime Minister also had to use the normal people mover for leaving the airport as no officials were accorded to him.
Imran Khan is accompanied by Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, chief of Pakistani’s secret service, ISI, Faiz Hameed and commerce advisor Abdul Razzak Dawood.
The Pakistani Prime Minister will have a tough time convincing the US administration about the human right violations in the country. Ten members of the Congress have written to Donald Trump to raise the issue of human rights abuse in Sindh Province.
Reports say that Baloch Republican Party and World Baloch Organization will campaign to highlight enforced disappearance and human rights abuses in Pakistan during the visit.
Incidentally, mobile billboards have appeared on the streets of Washington denouncing the human right violations in Balochistan.
Pakistan is going through a severe financial crisis and the country is on the verge of economic collapse. Only a bail out could save the sinking country.
In addition to a meeting with US President, Donald Trump, the Pakistani PM Imran Khan will meet with the heads of World Bank and International Monetary Fund and also with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
