PM Modi congratulates Shehbaz Sharif, the new Prime Minister of Pakistan

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated the newly-elected Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif. PM Modi conveyed his greetings through the social media platform X. “Congratulations to @CMShehbaz on being sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan,” Modi posted on X after Sharif was appointed as the Prime Minister for the second time on Sunday.

Shehbaz Sharif was elected as the PM of Pakistan after he secured 201 votes in the National Assembly on Sunday defeating his rival Omar Ayub Khan who was backed by PTI. The government formation in Pakistan has taken place after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) held talks with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and other parties, including MQM-P, PML-Q, BAP, PML-Z, IPP. Pakistan is currently reeling under severe economic crisis.
