Thenhipalam: In a stunning display of athletic prowess, Kozhikode native Bilin Gorage Anto emerged as a record-breaker at the State Senior Athletic Meet held on Friday in Thenhipalam. The young athlete shattered the meet record in the 20,000-metre walk, surpassing the benchmark set by Olympian Irfan in 2011.
According to a report, Bilin achieved this remarkable feat by completing 20,000-metre walk in an impressive time of 1 hour, 29 minutes, and 41.04 seconds. This not only secured his victory at the State Senior Athletic Meet but also etched his name in the record books by eclipsing Olympian Irfan’s previous record.
Bilin is a B.com. student at MA College in Ernakulam. His journey includes clinching the gold medal in the 20,000-metre walk category at the All India University meet in Chennai. The young athlete has also stood atop the podium with gold medals at the Junior National Meet in Assam in 2022 and the Junior Federation Meet in Tiruvannamali.
Trained under the guidance of Coach George Emmanuel, Bilin Gorage Anto has consistently demonstrated his dedication and skill in the field. Notably, his university-level performance showcased an even more impressive timing of 1 hour, 28 minutes, and 31 seconds.
The athlete’s relentless pursuit of excellence does not end with this triumph. In the upcoming events, Bilin is set to compete in the 10 km walk category at the State Junior Athletic Meet scheduled for Saturday.
