Itanagar: Kerala managed to secure a draw against Services in the last round of the 77th National Football Championship of the Santosh Trophy. Both teams found the net during the first half of the game. Kerala took the lead in the 22nd minute when Sajeesh E capitalised on a corner from Arjun V. and headed the ball into the net, showcasing their proficiency in set-piece situations. However, Services quickly responded and managed to equalise just before halftime in the 45+4 minute. Samir Murmu, who has been a standout performer with nine goals in the tournament so far, scored the crucial equaliser for Services.
Services, a former champion, has claimed the top spot in the Group A standings after a 1-1 draw against Kerala, also a former champion, in the last round. The match took place at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Yupia, Arunachal Pradesh, on Friday.
