New Zealand on Tuesday became the first team to qualify for the World Test Championship. The news comes after Cricket Australia proposed to postpone their Qantas tour of South Africa citing safety risks.
With New Zealand being the first side, the India vs. England Test series which will begin on January 5 at Chennai, will decide who will be on the other side facing New Zealand in the finals. AS of February 2, India tops the table with 71.7 pc of points. New Zealand is in the second slot with 70 pc of points and Australia in the third with 69.2 pc of points.
India will qualify into the finals if the team wins at least two tests of the 4 match series and manages bring the rest two matches to draw. The team can qualify even in a 2-1 position.
