Gqeberha: South Africa marks their first victory over Bharat in the second match of the T20I series. Despite a promising start by Bharat in the first inning, their bowling struggles and batting crisis took centre stage in this defeat.
In yesterday’s match, Bharat, batting first, posted a total of 180 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 19.3 overs. Rinku Singh emerged as the top scorer with an unbeaten 68 runs off 39 balls, showcasing a stellar performance with nine fours and two sixes, marking his maiden international T20 half-century. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav also contributed with a well-played 55.
However, Bharat faced challenges beyond Rinku and Surya’s batting brilliance. Openers Yashasvi and Gill were dismissed without scoring. The weakness became more apparent in the bowling department.
Arshadeep bowled only two overs, conceding 31 runs, leading to criticism for persistently including him in the lineup. Mukesh Kumar took two wickets but went for more than 11 runs per over in economy rate. Mohammad Siraj, while taking one wicket, conceded 27 runs in three overs.
Rinku Singh’s standout performance in the 19th over, where he smashed two sixes against Aiden Markram, caught the attention of fans. However, South Africa’s Reesa Hendricks (49) and Aiden Markram (30) played crucial roles in securing victory for their team.
