Ranchi: Bharat secured victory over England by five wickets, chasing down a target of 192 runs in Ranchi Test. With this win against England, Bharat clinched the series 3-1 with one match remaining and also secured the second position in the Test Championship rankings. Meanwhile, this marks Bharat’s 17th consecutive series win at home.

Bharat scored 120 runs and lost five wickets, but the partnership between Gill and Jurel propelled Bharat to win the series. Their partnership of 62 runs marked this triumph for Bharat.

Gill remained unbeaten with 52 runs, while Jurel contributed 37 runs to guide Bharat across the finish line. Rohit Sharma scored 55 runs off 81 balls, which also laid a solid foundation for Bharat’s victory. Despite a strong start provided by Rohit and Jaiswal’s partnership of 84 runs for the first wicket, Bharat faced a moment of concern when middle-order batsmen Rajat Patidar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sarfaraz Khan failed to make an impact. However, the Jurel-Gill duo revived hopes and propelled Bharat towards victory. Dhruv Jurel was awarded the player of the match award.

On the bowling front, Shoaib Bashir was the standout performer for England, claiming three wickets, while Tom Hartley and Joe Root secured a wicket each. Earlier in the match, England’s second innings concluded on 145 runs, with Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav claiming five and four wickets, respectively, breaking the backbone of England’s batting lineup.
