The long-awaited news of OnePlus developing its first foldable Smartphone has been circulating on the internet for quite some time, generating considerable buzz in tech circles. Recently, the company dropped a teaser on the micro blogging site X (formerly Twitter), possibly revealing the name of their upcoming device as ‘OnePlus Open.’
The tweet from OnePlus read, ‘We OPEN when others FOLD,’ adding to the excitement surrounding the device. Interestingly, this post coincided with Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea, where the tech giant launched its latest-generation foldable phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.
OnePlus has already officially confirmed the development of their foldable phone, which is expected to hit the market sometime in the third quarter of this year.
Ahead of any official photos, alleged renders of the OnePlus foldable device have surfaced online. Notably, the standout feature of the phone is a prominent circular camera module on the back, housing three camera sensors with the iconic Hasselblad branding. The rear camera flash is positioned in the left corner, outside the camera island. Additionally, the renders also showcase the inclusion of the popular alert slider and a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button.

According to rumours, the OnePlus foldable phone is anticipated to be powered by a Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 CPU. The screen is thought to feature a 2K 120Hz AMOLED (LTPO) panel with a faster refresh rate. It is claimed that it will have a 50 MP (IMX 890) primary camera, as well as an ultra-wide lens and a periscope lens. The gadget may include a 32 MP (OV32C) front-facing camera for selfies.
The battery is rumoured to be a robust 4,800mAh Li-Po unit with support for 100W SuperVOOC charging, ensuring fast and reliable charging capabilities.
Sources suggest that the OnePlus foldable phone is expected to debut in August and will likely launch in key markets like India, China, and the United States of America. However, it’s essential to approach these details with caution, as they are based on rumours and leaks, and an official announcement from OnePlus is awaited.
