In a recent announcement, Instagram head Adam Mosseri revealed that, the popular photo and video-sharing platform is currently testing an exciting new feature. This feature allows users to create posts, enabling them to add photos and videos to other users’ posts.
The concept behind this feature is : a user can add an ‘Add to post’ button, located in the bottom left corner of a carousel post ( a post containing more than one photo or video, which users can view by swiping left on a post through the phone app). Once enabled, this button empowers users to seamlessly contribute their favourite photos and videos to the original post.
However, the twist is that, the original account holder who posted the carousel must grant approval for these additional contributions before they become part of the post. It remains uncertain whether Instagram will maintain the current limit of a maximum of 10 posts or if they will explore the option of revealing the contributors’ names on each post, akin to the existing collaborative posts feature.
Instagram has been actively enhancing its collaborative capabilities throughout the year. This includes adding music to posts, introducing the ‘Add Yours’ sticker for creators to join forces, and enabling users to save reels and photos with friends.
