San Francisco: Elon Musk-owned social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, is set to introduce a new feature called ‘Creator Targeting’, allowing advertisers to place ads alongside content from selected creators. With this feature, advertisers will have the option to showcase their ads before videos from specific creators, enhancing visibility on both the user’s home timeline and the creator’s profile.
Moreover, X plans to introduce the capability to place advertisements directly on individual creator profiles, avoiding the risk of ads appearing alongside controversial content. This move aims to provide advertisers with greater control over their brand messaging .
The announcement comes amidst challenges to X’s advertising revenue since Musk’s acquisition of the company in a $44 billion deal in 2022. According to a report, X has experienced a significant decline of over 50% in ad revenue under Musk’s leadership. Despite generating approximately $2.5 billion in ad revenue last year, X fell short of its $3 billion revenue target.
