Gaza: Iranian-backed Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad’s commander on Tuesday got killed by Israel in the Gaza Strip by drawing day-long rocket salvoes.
A Syrian state media stated that a separate missile attack was carried out at Islamic Jihad Baha Abu Al-Atta’s home in Damascus. The strike has also killed one of his sons.
As the rocket fire and Israeli air-strikes continued into the night, Gaza medical officials said 10 Palestinians had been killed, including Al-Atta and his wife.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Al-Atta was a “ticking bomb,” who was responsible for a number of cross-border rocket, drone and sniper attacks. “Israel is not interested in escalation, but we will do everything required to defend ourselves,” said Netanyahu.
