Total lockdown in Karnataka from May 10 to 24

Karnataka government on Friday announced total lockdown in the state from May 10 to May 24 to control the transmission of COVID-19.

Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said the decision was taken as the active cases in the state are on a rise.

As per the announcement, all shops, commercial establishments, bars, restaurants will remain closed and there will be no public transport during this period.

The exemption has been given to construction activity and workers while the government offices will work with a skeleton staff. The interstate movements of goods have also been permitted.

The industries will remain close during the lockdown period while the relaxation for purchase of essential commodities from 0600 hrs to 1000 hrs has been given.

Liquor has been allowed in parcels while the milk booths can function till 1800 hrs every day.

The schools and colleges will remain closed and only online classes will be allowed. There will be no movement after 1000 hrs and strict measures will be implemented.

The medical shops, hospitals and labs will function. Vegetable sellers of pushcart are allowed during the lockdown.

The metro rail services will remain suspended. While passengers who travel through rail and air, have to produce their tickets.

Permission was given to parcel services from hotels and agricultural activities.

No inter-district movement will be allowed and all religious places will remain closed for the public. Only 50 persons will be allowed in a marriage function and violation will invite strict actions.
