Algiers: 26 people were killed in a forest fire in North Algeria. Many people are being treated in the hospital due to burns. Forest fire has destroyed 14 districts of Algeria, said Internal Affairs Minister Kamal Beljoud. 24 people died in the fire in El Tarf, near the Tunisian border, and 2 in Setifil.
Four people sustained severe burns in Souq Ahras. More than 350 people have been evacuated from this region. Meanwhile, no new figures on number of people injured in fires in other parts of the country are not reported.
39 fire have broke out in 14 districts within 2 days. More destruction occurred at El Tarf. 16 fires have been reported here alone. More than 2,500 hectares of forest areas have already been destroyed in the country, said officials. About 100,000 hectares of forest and 90 people were killed in Northern Algeria in wildfires last year.
