Thiruvananthapuram: The body of a woman who went missing in a flash flood at Palode Mankayam has been found. Shani (37), a native of Nedumangad, died. Shani’s cousin, a six-year-old girl, was drowned to death yesterday. With this, the number of death in the flash flood has increased to two.
The incident happened yesterday. Ten people from three families came to see the waterfall. But due to heavy rains, they were not allowed to go there, so they went to the nearby river to take bath. Meanwhile the flash flood occurred.
Six members of the group were injured, but four were rescued. Six-year-old girl and Shani got caught up in the flow. The girl was found late in the evening but died by the time she was taken to the hospital. Then the search for Shani started. The body was recovered from Munnatumuk, two and a half kilometers away.
