Cyclonic circulation over Tamil Nadu; Rain in Kerala today; Yellow alert in 9 districts

Thiruvananthapuram: There is a possibility of heavy rain in the state today, warned the Meteorological Department. Based on this, a yellow alert has been issued in the districts that may receive heavy rain. Heavy rains are continuing in the state as a result of the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Tamil Nadu and adjoining areas.

Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Palakkad and Malappuram districts are on yellow alert. The districts may receive 64.5 to 115.5 ml of rain in 24 hours. Therefore, the State Disaster Management Authority has informed that people in these districts should be cautious. Other districts of the state will also receive rain today.

Apart from rain, there is also the possibility of strong thunder, lightning and wind at isolated places. There will be a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. People are also warned not to go out during this time.

Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts tomorrow. Yellow alert has been announced in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts on Saturday. Yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Wayanad districts on Sunday.
