The price hike came into effect after the governor signed into law an amendment bill that would increase the sales tax on Indian-made foreign liquor by four percent.
The government had waived the sales tax imposed on liquor companies. Beverages Corporation will have a loss of Rs 195 crore. To solve this, the bill was introduced by increasing the sales tax. Through this, the aim is to solve the loss of 135 crores.
