Thiruvananthapuram: The price of beer and wine will increase from today. An increase of ten rupees per bottle. The increase in beer and wine prices is part of the sales tax increase.

With an increase of Rs 10 the rate of Jawan Liquor, which was the cheapest liquor, has gone up to Rs 610. The rate of MH brand raised to Rs 1040 from Rs.1020. The price hike came into effect after the governor signed into law an amendment bill that would increase the sales tax on Indian-made foreign liquor by four percent.
The government had waived the sales tax imposed on liquor companies. Beverages Corporation will have a loss of Rs 195 crore. To solve this, the bill was introduced by increasing the sales tax. Through this, the aim is to solve the loss of 135 crores.
