Kottayam: – In a remarkable feat of consistency and commitment to basketball development, Kerala is gearing up to host the Jr. NBA (National Basketball Association) programme for the 10th consecutive season. The state is all set to welcome basketball enthusiasts for a series of events and tournaments that will span across 14 cities, aiming to foster the sport’s growth among the youth.

A report says that , the inaugural event of the 10th season of Jr. NBA will kick off at Girideepam Bethany Central School in Kottayam on July 24. This event is expected to witness a gathering of young talents from various schools and communities, eager to showcase their skills and passion for the game.

The basketball extravaganza will continue at the Regional Sports Centre in Kochi, where basketball development clinics and tournaments for youth, coaches, and teachers will be held on July 27. The focus on coaching and mentoring aims to enhance the overall quality of basketball in the region and create a nurturing environment for aspiring athletes to hone their abilities.

One of the exciting additions to this year’s Jr. NBA programme is the introduction of the 3-on-3 tournament. This fast-paced and engaging format of basketball is set to take place at both Girideepam and Kochi on July 26 and 27, respectively. Additionally, the Assisi Vidyaniketan at Njaracal will be the venue for the 3-on-3 events on July 31 and August 1, offering more opportunities for youngsters to participate and compete.

What makes this season even more special is the incorporation of the U-12 and U-14 age groups in the 3-on-3 tournaments, providing a platform for even younger players to demonstrate their talent. The organisers are excited about this inclusion, as it will allow them to spot budding stars at an early age and support their growth in the sport.

In an effort to take the Jr. NBA programme to greater heights, the organisers have announced the first-ever national championship. This prestigious event will be held in Delhi in September, bringing together the most exceptional talents from the various regional tournaments held across the country. The national championship promises to be a thrilling showcase of young basketball prodigies, with scouts and enthusiasts keeping an eye on the stars of tomorrow.
