Sultan Bathery: Another case of suicide related to threats from Online Loan App mafia is reported from Wayanad district. The deceased is Arimula Ajayan (43). It is believed that yesterday his wife’s morphed picture was spread to intimidate the victim.
The victim hails from Sultan Bathery in Wayanad district. Online Loan App mafia was also behind the suicide of an entire family in Kadamakkudy in Kochi a couple of days back. A husband and wife took their own life after allegedly killing their children. The wife, Shilpa, had taken loan from an online loan app. However, when the repayment stopped, the online loan app mafia group morphed her picture and sent threatening messages.
This led the family to take the drastic step which ended the lives of four and put the families of the deceased into unbearable grief.
Bringing a hope to stop the menace of these Online Loan Apps, the Union Minister of State for IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, said that a special law will be introduced soon to rein in and regulate these online loan apps.
