THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have again registered a case against Youth Congress members involved in creating fake voter identity cards for the Youth Congress (YC) elections in Kerala. The Thiruvananthapuram Museum Police registered the case based on a complaint filed by the Chief Electoral Officer.
The case has been filed under sections 465, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code. The Chief Electoral has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.
An FIR was lodged by the Thiruvananthapuram Museum Police following a complaint filed by the Additional Chief Electoral Officer-II of the state. The FIR highlights the creation of fake ID cards in Kerala over the past six months.
A special team, headed by Thiruvananthapuram City’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, is conducting the investigation.
The case was registered based on the incident that in the recent election of the Youth Congress Organisation, forged voter’s identification cards of the Election Commission of India were produced. This information was brought to light through investigative reporting by Janam TV.
Janam TV bring to light that Youth Congress members utilized a mobile application named CR Card to create these fake voter identity cards of the Election Commission of India. It is reported that the mobile application could generate a counterfeit card within 5 minutes, capable of being printed on PVC cards.
