New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed optimism that Bharat would attain developed nation status by the year 2047. This declaration came during the last budget presentation of the second term Narendra Modi government, where Sitharaman highlighted the nation’s achievements over the last decade.

The Finance Minister stated that the Indian economy is undergoing a transformative journey, noting that when the Narendra Modi government came into power in 2014, there were many challenges. The Finance Minister emphasised the government’s commitment to addressing these challenges through the implementation of various schemes aimed at strengthening the economy and fostering employment. The focus remains on comprehensive development, ensuring progress across all segments of the population.

Nirmala Sitharaman credited PM Modi for successfully uplifting 25 crore people from poverty, emphasising the empowerment of diverse sections, including the poor, women, youth, and farmers.

In her budget speech, Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted key initiatives, such as the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana scheme benefiting 4 crore farmers and the SVANidhi Yojana supporting 78 lakh street vendors. Additionally, she mentioned the direct transfer of Rs 34 lakh crore through the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.
