New Delhi: Adani Group officially entered the aviation business when the company came out as the highest bidder for operation and infrastructure development of 5 airports under the Airports Authority of India(AAI).

Adani beat other heavy weights such as GMR Group, PNC Infratech Ltd. , National Investment and Infrastructure Fund to clinch the bid. A total of 10 companies took part in the bidding based on “monthly per-passenger fee”.

The AAI managed Mangalore, Trivandrum, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow airports will be handed over to Adani Group once the formalities are over. The bidding for Guwahati airport will begin tomorrow.

Adani made a grand entry into the aviation business by aggressively bidding for the airports. The group quoted Rs. 168 per person for the Trivandrum Airport, Rs. 115 for Mangalore Airport, Rs. 174 for Jaipur Airport, Rs. 171 for Lucknow Airport, and Rs. 177 for the Ahmedabad Airport.

Governments decision to manage, operate and develop infrastructure on a Public Private Partnership is seen as an initiative to provide the best facilities and services to the consumers.
