Srinagar: The Kashmir police have claimed that Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) was the brain behind the failed car bomb attack in Pulwama on Thursday. Hizbul Mujahideen assisted the JeM.
“We had received information that a militant of Jaish-e-Mohammed is going to carry out the operation. So we suspect that Adil (occupant of the car carrying IED) -a Hizbul Mujaideen militant is also in touch with Jaish-e-Mohammed,” said Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir.
“He intended to target vehicles of security forces. We are calling expert teams from the outside. We suspect that the vehicle was carrying 40-45 kg of explosives. Jaish-e-Mohammed has the main role in this. Hizbul Mujahideen assisted them,” he added.
The security forces on receiving credible inputs, successfully thwarted a car-bomb attack on Thursday, otherwise which could have been a similar 2019 Pulwama attack.
The suspected vehicle came and a few rounds of bullets were fired towards it. Going a little further the vehicle was abandoned and the driver escaped in the darkness. On closer look, the vehicle was seen to be carrying heavy explosives in a drum on the rear seat. https://t.co/HbsT6hYE1u
