New Delhi: In a “violent face-off” with Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh, three Indian soldiers, including a Colonel have been martyred.
An official statement said: “During the de-escalation process underway in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place yesterday night with casualties. The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers. Senior military officials of the two sides are currently meeting at the venue to defuse the situation.”
Indian sources also say that there were casualties on the Chinese side. After 45 years, this is the first violent incident on the India-China border that too with casualties.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting with Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, the three service chiefs and External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S Jaishankar over the recent developments in Eastern Ladakh on Tuesday.
