New Delhi: In a significant development, Chinese troops have pulled back their personnel and tents by 1-2 kilometres from the site of the Galwan valley in Eastern Ladakh.

“Chinese Army has moved back tents, vehicles and troops by 1-2 km from locations where disengagement was agreed upon at Corps Commander level talks”, Indian Army Sources said.

However, Chinese heavy armoured vehicles are still present in depth areas in Galwan river area. “Indian army monitoring the situation with caution”, news agency ANI reported quoting sources.

It is also to be noted that the development comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ladakh last week, sending out a signal to China.

“The disengagement of Indian & Chinese troops in Galwan, Ladakh has begun. This is a result of intense diplomatic, military engagement & contacts in the past 48 hours,” reported ANI.
